I just had my boat taken out of the water and the marina put the supports for the boat about 2 feet from the sling spots that are indicated on the hull in the bow area. Is this a problem?? Thank you

I ask the marina

to set the stands at the bulkheads, they use 6 stands, one set at the foreward bulkhead, at the mast, one mid way, and one set at the engine area. They also block the bow with concrete blocks and wood blocks.

On many sail boats the keel supports ...

the entire weight of the vessel when placed on the hard. The jack stands are used mainly to keep the boat stable. You should not have a problem. Terry

Hull Support

JK is correct - jack stands should be positioned where there are bulkheads and other support inside the hull. If not, over the winter the hull will slowly indent (oil can)and deform at the jackstands. This will usually reverse itself when the boat is put back in the water next season but it is bad boat handling. I would not trust concrete blocks and wood under my boat. Ask the marina to use only jackstands.
