Hunter 33 -- rudder stops

I'm new to my 1982 Hunter 33. I discovered that the chain was disconnected from the sprocket inside the Edson steering console. After loosening the cables on the pulley attached to the rudder under the deck, I was able to re-attach the chain at the mid-point/neutral steering position. However, I discovered that when I turn the wheel fully, there is no stop to the rudder and I wind up pulling the cable over the sprocket which disconnects the steering.

Question -- where are there mechanical rudder stops (assuming my logic is correct)? Is there a schematic that anyone can point me toward?

Thanks, Bill

The Cherubini boats did not have Edson pedestals as original factory equipment. This could point to a less than proper adaptation. The good news is that Edson is alive and well and you can seek their assistance.

On my boat the stop is on the rudder shaft quadrant. You can see it in this picture I took while renewing cockpit drains.

There must be stops installed. Usually there is male prodrusion that is attached to the quadrant disk for left and right side stop. When the wheel is turned to its maximum range the protrusion comes to rest against a metal angle that is glassed in and attached stationary to underside of cockpit floor.
Since there are 2 of them I am assuming that there is one still attached.
This is a standard installation. You can ask someone in your Marina with an equal or larger boat of any make if you can see their installation.
Haro.

My 1979 Hunter 30 C did come from the factory with an Edson system.
The stop was a male projection (think plastic prescription medicine bottle sized),
attached to the quadrant and was stopped by a block of 2x4 attached to the deck.
Not elegant, but it has worked flawlessly for 41 years.

Aug 23 -- Many great inputs from the forum team -- THANK YOU! I suspect that I am missing the fixed points that stop the protrusion on the wheel. Ironically, I found 2 angle irons in the bowels when I was under the deck, so I suspect they're my culprits.
