My throttle cable froze and eventually snapped Friday night just as I was departing for the weekend. I tried to take apart the pedestal to get to the clamp in side and had a very difficult time taking apart the steering mechanism. The Edson Manual says to drive out the pin on the main shaft. I didn't want to damage it so I didn't hit it too hard but it didn't even budge at all when I struck it. The manual also mentions a groved end of the pin, but I couldn't see any difference between either end. Will any damage be done by hitting this harder or better yet, is there a way to install this cable without taking the steering apart?
