Good morning, everyone! I have a 93 Hunter 33.5...This Saturday, I'm pulling my holding tank and going the composting route. I want to plug any holes that currently have hoses run to them, but I forgot to measure before I left the boat earlier this week. Does anyone happen to know what the hole sizes are so I can get some plugs? I would prefer that anything left in the holding tank after my pump out remains in the holding tank....

Could you Gorilla Tape over the holes? In my experience, GT is like duct tape on steroids... I guess I would test the adhesion on the surface of the tank before committing....:yikes::poop:

Instead of just sealing any leftover sewage in the tank to sit and stink in the sun, you should rinse it out before you disconnect the hoses. It's not hard to do.
Put 4-6" of water into the tank via the deck pumpout fitting 'cuz that sends the water into the bottom of the tank where it can stir up any sludge so it can be pumped out. Pump that out...then repeat until you're pumping out clean water. If there's a macerator pump, add water one more time, but this time turn on the pump to rinse it and its plumbing out. If you do this, you won't need any tape.

And btw...this is something that should be done to prep a tank for winterizing or any other extended layup.

You won’t get all of the ”stuff“ out of the tank (there will be water left in the tank) and even after rinsing and pumping, it will stink!

When i pulled mine out, I pulled a hose and taped plastic bags over the hose ends. The Gorilla tape (wide) should be good to at least temporarily seal the tank holes…you could also put a bag over the barb and tape it in place.

Once you get the tank out, if you are keeping it for any reason, then you can wash it out and rinse it with a garden hose and let it dry out. I was just refurbishing mine and reinstalled it once I resealed the fittings.
