The Hunter 306 is a new boat to me. Just stepped the mast yesterday using the yard crane. There was no bolt or pin to attach the mast and base. There is a grove across the middle that could take a pin. I have placed one there for now. With out it, it appears the mast base could move. Any comments... does anyone use a t base?
Thanks, Rob

Just so you know you aren't ignored, I have no idea. I do find it a curious thing.

Hi Ken,
Thanks for that. I am heading to the boat soon and will add a few pics. It may better explain my question.
Thanks,
Rob

I think there are gruves or some kind of a notch's that holds the mast in place but my H- 36 is in fl. and I am in NY.
It's been many years since owning my 2001 290/306 but photo may help.

First view is of the rear of the mast and step. The second is of the front of the mast and step. Can anyone tell if the positioning correct? I have hunted for a reference in manuals but no luck.
Thanks,
Rob

You may want to research this with the mast manufacturer. It will either be a Selden or U.S Spars but think it is a Selden. Anyway, Selden is located in Charleston, SC and US Spars is located in Gainesville, FL as the mast step would have been supplied by the mast mfg. I drew a blank even though as a former dealer I introduced the 306.

I had 2001 290 and yes is selden but can'take see where a pin may go.
But keep asking here from other 306 owners or go to the boat
owner info and contact them email for help,I have done that in the past for help.
