Hello all,

Last weekend I completed the replacement of the outboard cables on my Hunter 260 with a Edson Pedestal.

There is no access panel on my boat, so this was a very difficult process that involved inventing a few new cuss words.

During the second cable install, I bent the metal sheath that surround the cable. I was able to get it functional with just a little bit of extra friction.

Has anyone remove the section that the pedestal attached to to get access to the underside of the pedestal? I'm wondering if that might have been easier/faster than what I did to get the cable through the pedestal base.

Thoughts?

I did lift the whole floor section with the pedestal attached, when I replaced the throttle cable several years ago; that was a pain. I just did the shifter cable without lifting three floor: the truck is to get a fairly small person to squat in the gas can compartment, reach under the pedestal to guide the tip of the cable through the rubber grommet, while somebody pulls up on the messenger line.
