Hello, I have purchased a 1993 water ballasted Hunter 19.It has a rope next to the mast (right side leading down). I need to know what this is for. I am assuming it has something to do with the dagger board which is hinged.I need to know if this is for keeping the board down or keeping it up. Does gravity keep the board down? Seems unlikely as it is not heavy and is very thin. It pivots down. The rope is not functioning whatever it does. I assumed when I got on the water I would uncleat it and it would trail down but it does not go up or down nor will it pull all the way out so I am perplexed. Also has anyone ever fixed this problem and what's the best way to handle it? I lifted the boat up with a crane and got it where the board was mostly down, then nervously got under it for as long as I dared, but I did not see a rope attachment anywhere. I am pretty confused at this point as to what exactly this rope does, and how to fix this problem...
