Looking to install an Airmar P79 on a 1993 Passage 42, does anyone know the hull thickness? Airmar says this works best with 1/2" hull thickness or less. If thicker they recommend the M260.

Welcome to the forum!!

Do you have existing Airmar or other transducer on your boat for depth and speed? If so, you may be able to obtain its model number and check the size. I did that on my sailboat when I purchased a new speed transducer.

You should get the M260 since the hull thickness may vary in spots...
My H430 is about 1/2 inch
Jim...

PS: Mine works fine, but Raymarine.

I think the OP is talking about a "Shoot thru the hull" meter instead of the thru hull sensor. But I'm not sure.

Correct! Need to move the boat asap and don't have time to haul out, surveyor recommended this. I'll change the thru hull next time I haul for sure.

You do not need a haul out to check the transducer. You can remove it (built in check valve ro minimize water entry) and insert its companion plug. Then you check the model and look up its hull thickness dimensions.

If you can not find that Plug...
You can remove the thru-hull transducer, have a helper hold hand over the slight flow, you clean the transducer, take picture of the Model, and re-install it.

Maybe a quart of water enters you boat.;)
