HOW CAN I FIND THE HIN ON A CATALINA 30? NUMBER ON STERN HAS BEEN PAINTED OVER OR WORN OFF. I PLAN TO PURCHASE BOAT AND WANT TO MAKE SURE IT IS NOT STOLEN.

Hull Number - check the insurance policy

If the boat has a current insurance policy, the hull number should be listed there, at least it is on ours. You can compare the registration and insurance policy data to determine if everything checks out.

HIN NUMBER

Call Catalina or go on the WEB and see if they can reference the motor serial number to a HIN number. My guess is that they should have that record, but if someone changed the engine your back to step "0"

Missing HIN

Might be a problem when attempting to register the boat after purchase. Do a little checking with the officials & insurance companies first.--Ron
