Thats Funny!!

Thats funny!!! But whats probably even stranger is considering the hailing port or country of registration, it must have some deep maritime meaning....you never know! Bob

Homero, perhaps you could put this on the "Ask All Sailors" forum to give more of us a laugh.

Ron again- is this for real ?

Homero, please correct me if I'm wrong, but has someone played with the original image in Photoshop ? On closer viewing, it appears that the name is far sharper than the blurred image of the rest of the tanker. Also, the three letters above the name "Titan" appear to be on top of a large diameter line that runs from the port across the stern to a tire on the transom railing.

oil tanker "Titan Uranus" built 1992, owned by Titan Petrochemicals, Ltd. at their website (attached). Used to know a guy that was responsible for naming streets in a fast growing city, got boring so he started making puns with adjoining street names, or maybe it sounds better in Chinese. On second thought, seems a most appropriate name for an oil tanker.

thanks Calif.Ted and Homero

Thanks for the verification. I have had so many doctored photos sent to me this past year that it has made me question almost every photo I get. There is a site that confirms or denys most of the current myths and phony photos. "snopes.com" With that out of the way, I have made several of my sailing friends chuckle over the Titan Uranus name. Thanks Homero
