How to use the shower without getting the wood wet?

There's a shower curtain track on the ceiling of the head, probably 20" square. That's not feasible. What do you do?

We make sure the wood is well protected with a good quality varnish and use a hand held shower at low pressure to reduce over spray.

I coated a teak grate seat in our shower with Cetol clear. Wipe it off after it gets wet. Really, the bare teak was holding up well, as Head Sail recommended, just dry if off after use.

The few times I have used a wet head, I just did not worry about the wood getting wet, and in none of the cases did rot immediately set in or the boat sink. Most boat interior wood is varnished or latex painted (it may be clear, but it's still paint), and is pretty waterproof. My main problem is hitting elbows on cabinets and getting the toilet paper wet. Personally, I'd rather shower on the swim platform or on deck, but I'm not particularly shy at my age.:waycool:

A saltwater wash and fresh water rinse on the swim platform works well in less crowded anchorages. If someone needs binoculars to see you, then it is their problem not yours.

I should mention we have a separate shower compartment, wet TP is not an issue for us.

Drag the shower hose through the opening port in the head, shower on the deck. No wet wood, no wet TP.

That's how the C-30 shower got used on my boat.

Our head is relatively small also but with 2 light weight shower curtains hooked to the outer perimeter of the wall at the ceiling I find there is ample room. The curtains drap over the sink vanity and toilet, rather than hanging straight down, to give the extra room. Roll the curtains up, hang on the life lines and they dry in minutes.

Thanks for the replies. Wipe down or hose through the hatch sounds fine.
