Stephen,
The gimbal brackets for my Hillerange 3 burner stove are pressed metal with a slot that is open at the top. The axle of the stove slides into the slot and is captured by a spring metal keeper that is part of the bracket. The sizing of the keeper and a groove in the axle allow the keeper to be pressed off the end of the axle just enough to lift the stove axle out of the slot. The difficult part is to press the keeper away from the stove just enough to allow the axle to be lifted without having the tool interfere with lifting the axle. I expect Hillerange has a special tool to do this. I used pieces of Starboard shaped to fit the slot and adjusted their thickness until I got just the right of movement of the keeper. The Starboard worked very nicely and it takes only a few seconds to insert the Starboard and lift the stove out of the brackets. I won't say how long it took to get to this solution. Two tools are required, one for each side, and two people to lift the stove.
