Take that shroud line to your forward dock cleat, it becomes your aft spring, put another on the shroud and back to the stern (forward spring) and you will arrest forward-aft motion. Drop a fender(s) between the boat and dock. Then tension your bow and stern qtr dock lines to let her in / out, tight to your fender. You could ride a gale like that. Fear of beating, abated.The trick is that it only works well when you're pulled up tight against the dock, which would’ve subjected use to a beating in this case.
