This is my first owned boat

We have chartered for 20 years. This is our first boat that we own. In late spring and early summer we sailed short trips that added to about 27 days. This was the test period for our 48 day trip from the Chesapeake Bay to Maine and back. Since then, we have sailed another 5 days and expect to do another 10 or maore days, in the Chesapeake, before hauling it out for the winter. Our next project is to sail out of the Chesapeake next April for Bermuda, the Virgin's, Bahamas' and back via the ICW. We expect that to take a little more than two months.

Super summer

Started season late because I had to replace broken mast. Did not sail until June 24th, but still managed to log in 985 miles until the boat was put on the hard last Sunday. Lots of day sailing, some week-ends and above all a glorious 3-week trip to Lake Ontario for some fabulous sailing under completely sunny skies. 7 months 'til she's back in the water.

EXCEPTIONAL SUMMER

Wildest Dream, a Catalina 30TR is our first boat. We've been sailing her on Seneca Lake. It's one of the New York State finger lakes. This is our second season sailing and we're loving it! I think we've missed only 2 or 3 weekends on the boat and since we live only 25 minutes away, we sail a lot during the week as well. 90% of our weekends are spent anchoring out on the lake with a couple of other boats. From Friday evening until Sunday evening we're either sailing during the days or anchored at night. The weather has been extremely good this summer. We're putting her away this week, but we're really looking forward to next year.

Too sail or repair?

Some times you just must go where the wind blows. Spent the past two years on Lake sidney Lanier just north of Atlanta Ga.. The sailing is great after the summer month duldrons are over, so Summer fixin and Winter sailing. At the end of this past Spring we moved the boat to Panama Cith and are doing less Fixin and a lot more sailing. St Andrews Bay and the near by cities: Destin,Port ST Joe and Apalachacoa. In 2002 onward to Tampa and the Keys. See ya out there.

24 and still counting!

All of my sailing this year has been daysails of 2-3 hours. Most of the time I singlehand my Cat22; while my better half has joined me a few times this season. I expect this number to increase to 30 by the time I pull the boat early in November. This is pretty good considering I was not able to make it out at all during the prime-time months of August

32 in June

I realize I am a spoiled brat. When winter gets here it'll mean that I have to wear shoes to go sailing. But to answer the question, most of our time in on the weekends making short trips to Ingram's Bayou. It's a great little hole. This summer, however, I tripped on over to south Fla and did a month around the west coast and the upper Keys. Big fun. Next year, Tortugas!!!

Unfortunately

due to work demands, we got out for 1, count them, 1, weekend. It was great. And, due to jobs and the resulting cashflow, the boat is for sale. It is NOT a good year.

Over 40, plus 8 on a charter

On the boat 22 days and 21 nights while cruising. Day sailed about 20 times. Had to take her out 9 October, since I'm traveling abroad for these weeks. Both Joanne (the Admiral) and I really enjoy getting away for a week, a day, or a couple of hours. David Lady Lillie '77 h27

9 weekends

After a disasterous year last year I was able to buy a new boat in June and get out on it about 9 weekends. We keep our 23 foot "Hunter", moored on Grindstone lake out of Hayward Wi. My wife and I sail mostly together. I have been out single handing by myself a couple of times and she took out 3 of her friends, who know nothing about sailing, out for a ride. Not bad Denise. We both spent a week in the Carribean in march taking a certified ASA course on a 43 foot boat. I am currently trying to get this boat into some inside storage which is heated to work on over the winter. Clean the hull and put a clear coat seal on. Change halyards and sheaves,on the mast for the main and jib, possible get a new main sail, install a CD/am/fm receiver to be able to listen to "Enya" and others when sailing and to work on the woodwork. As you all know there are lots of work that can be done to the boats. I am trying to work on mine over the winter to be ready for spring. Goals for next year are to try to attend the Indian Lake regatta this year and possibly bring the boat down to Lake Murray in South Carolina this spring when I visit relatives down there. All in all we are having a great adventure with our boat
