how is air getting in pressure water system?

Have filled up both tanks past the pickup hoses and still getting air in system. How can this happen? Can't find any water leaks but even if there were it seems to be insufficient pull on water from tank to suck in air. Ideas?? Thx

From the suction side of the pump?

Could be that when filling the tanks you 'entrained' a lot of air in the water causing a great amount of micro-air bubbles to become 'mixed' in the water. These bubbles sometimes take a long time to 'effervesce' out of the tank water.
Try filling the tank 'gently' so as not to mix-up a lot of air into the water.

Other possibilities: 1. leaking seal / o-ring on the 'suction side' of the pump. 2. pin hole or loose connection on the 'suction side' of the pump piping. 3. pin hole in the pump diaphragm or developed air leak in the pump gasketing, etc..
Best way to 'test' for the above .... blind off the suction side of the pump/piping, (thumb usually works), turn on pump to develop max. vacuum, shut down the pump and see how long it takes for the vacuum to 'decay'.

ususally a suction side fitting.or tank selector valve packing?. air can get in where water can't get out. in addition to previous posts, make sure that the inlet is covered by about 2-3" 'cause air will entrain from the surface down the side of the inlet tube sometimes if the tip is not covered deeply enough.

These kinds of problems are mostly caused by either a faulty pump, faulty pump connections, or input or output sides of the pump being clogged.

Make sure you have bled all faucets hot and cold. Galley, head, transom, toilet(if equipped with FW flush)

I had a similar problem last year. In my case, I had removed the strainer before the water pump to clean it. When I re-installed it, I turned it a little too much and cracked the threads. That allowed the pump to suck air. it took a long time to find the problem.

Simple question: do you have a hot water heater? .... have you 'burped it' to remove the inevitable large 'air lock'/entrapped air when you refilled the system?

My B323 had a similar, hard-to-find problem. Turned out there is a very small check valve right in the water tank's exit fitting. Had a small spring like a ball point pen, and apparently some junk got in it and prevented the valve from opening. I had almost bought a new water pump until I found the problem. I removed the valve and the system works fine without it.
