Somehow, Ross, I bet you can't reassemble it near as fast.
To address the original question, you have to remove the winch drum as described (its just a very large bolt at the bottom of the winch drum well) to access the screws that hold the winch base to the bracket that allows the winch to sit on the curved side of the mast. Its easier (and less likely to lose parts) if you remove the bracket and winch assembly from the mast by drilling out the pop rivets that secure the bracket to the mast, then find a nice place to separate the winch from the bracket. Its worth doing.
