Do you have a third battery? If not, you would do better to have 2, 12-volt batteries. If one of the 6's dies, you have no 12-volts to run anything.

That's my rule hah always have a backup! I'm running 2 12volt batteries in parallel at about 230AH a piece. If I get a short in one cell I can disconnect that battery and use the other assuming the short didn't cause any issues.
