Hot water heater -reset

I have a 2000 Hunter 380 and every time I unplug the. Plug back into shore power I have to take the electrical panel off the side of the water heater and push the reset button.
It is a Seaward Heater. Any suggestions?

Seems like a bad reset switch. Do you have your HW breaker off when you plug in?

I switch the breaker off when I unplug from shore power then back on when I plug back in. The reset switch is an idea. Thanks

???? if you switch off, unplug, do something interesting, plug back in, turn on the heater and then have to reset the breaker I'm not sure what you are resetting. Does the breaker trip when you turn it on after plugging in?

check all your wire connections and make sure they are tight...including your ground wire

Is that a temperature sensitive or an AC load switch? Probably temp.

Sounds like a bad temperature limiting switch. Cheap and fairly easy to replace if you can get access to the panel on the WH...

I had to change mine, but I had no hot water, and the reset switch would not reset.
