So, I purchased some new line to replace the furling on my Hood 900 series furler (early 1990's, below-deck installation; see photo). Anyhow, there is a shroud which has to come off to replace the line. It is attached by what appear to be nylon screws. Aside from access issues, I backed away from putting much torque on the screws for fear they would shear.

So, I'm sure someone has been down this path before and can give me a heads-up on the process; it would be appreciated.

Well, I went down that path about 10 years ago Rick, with a "94 800 series I believe. I was apprehensive also, but the fact that I don't remember much makes me think the darn things came out without a problem. I do have a large fat bladed screwdriver I employ for oversize heads like those. I can't even remember if I replaced with stainless or decided the nylon ones worked well in that application after all. Sorry, My deteriorating short term memory is both a blessing and a curse.
