I have a Honda BF8A outboard that has been very reliable since I got it (circa 2002), but has developed a little problem this spring:
1. Ran fine for the first 30 minutes when recommissioned this spring, then hesitated alot as though starved for fuel or air. I got it running again, and seemed to run fine for a bit. Gas was about 3 hours from the gas station, so not guessed to be the culprit, but was thinking of perhaps some condensate in the carb or picked up in the external tank. I'll try some auto parts dry-gas additive. I haven't checked the plugs yet, but wouldn't seem to be the problem based upon symptoms.... The outboard was fogged and run dry of gas in the fall.
2. (May or may not be related to #1) Outboard did have a transient episode at the end of the fall and once this spring of running along at cruising rpm, then without touching the tiller running up to max rpm, necessitating pulling the emergency stop clip. I didn't try anything else with this yet since I didn't want it to run at max rpm while I scratched my head.... Anyone have any experience with this?
Thanks! If this rain lets up I'd like to use the thing....
