These things are portable and are made for use everywhere including on building sites and the like.
To be able to plug in a drill and a saw - or a planer and a sander and then just pick up whichever is required with no swapping of plugs makes it all worthwhile.
Of course one does not expect all the outlets to be capable of supplying the full current that each plug is rated for simultaneously.
Be reasonable.

I bought the 2000 with the 20 and 12 v charger. I have never used the charger part. I wish I had gone with the 30-amp CONNECTOR so I could just plug my shore power cord into it. An adaptor is just another potential weak link. As above, the 20- plugs can pop out, and you might not even be aware of it. Get the 30, and if you must buy an adaptor, get a 30M to 15F. Ideally, you would have both (15M>30F, 15F>30M ) on your boat. Perhaps you can find a 8-or-so-foot shore power cord, or use one that has been cut, to make one just long enough to get from the gen to the shore power inlet.
I got my 2000 from Wisesales.com (800-916-9473 for a price) because they were suggested in these forums. You will probably not find the actual sale price on line from any commercial dealer. Fair trade or something like that? Also, pick up the Honda Generator sales brochure and read more about the specs.

Wise was 884.90 when i got it, shipping included to my door in 3 days, but maybe it isn't nowdays.
Where exactly is everyone keeping their extra gas for an extended cruise? Lashed to the life lines?

I would recommend listening to Honda... They build perhaps the most reliable engines on the planet and suspect they know a bit more about their engines than another company.
A local guy, "Million Mile Joe" drove his Honda Accord to 1,000,000 miles on regular oil, my dealer serviced his car. Engine was never re-built.... 1,000,000 MILES on regular Dinosaur oil !!! Listen to Honda.....
Mobil oil also told me I could safely convert high mileage cars to synthetic. After doing it three times on three different cars, which had all been bone dry prior to synthetic conversion, they all leaked within weeks of the conversion. On the third one I was ready for it and took it to the dealer before conversion to confirm it was bone dry. Not a single oil leak! I got under there and looked myself. Once again within weeks the turbo seals were leaking then the valve cover, then the oil pan..... Took me three of these events to realize it was a dumb idea...... I'm a slow learner....:cry:

I don't think you'll find a "20" straight-plugM to 30F, probably a 15 to 30 is what you'll get. I think it was Home Depot or Lowes that had some adaptors for 9 bucks? They are a clear plastic. Sinc the 2000 puts out 13.3 amps, tyou're okay.

I am confused with all this, R u saying u can get a plug to plug into shore power fitting and run thru the a/c panel and outlets? Then there is one with a built in inverter to convert to 12Volts?? Red
