Back at the house, after helping a friend bring his new to him boat home from Panama City, Fl. Mamma nature was not kind to us either. Origional plan was to make a offshore run from Panama City over to the Gulfport channel. That little tropical depression sitting out in the gulf changed the plans, so it was the ditch all the way. Thursday was bad, winds right on the nose most of the time. Blowing from dead calm to 30 knots in about three seconds. Friday was worse, and crossing Choctawhachee or whatever bay, we were sailing along, winds varying from port beam to on the nose about ten knots, visibility just about zero. Then a gust hit us from the exact opposite direction, about 30 knots of wind, just bam. Never saw it coming, as visibility was about 100 yards in the rain. Almost knocked down, but not quite. Thurs. and Fri. mamma nature sure slapped us in the face. All down hill after that. Sunday morning we left Ft.Walton Beach around 8 am, made it to LuLu's around 1 for lunch, left around 3, and made it across Mobile Bay before dark. Pretty uneventful after the first two days. Some good sailing, and decent weather. Last couple of days spent sailing between a broad reach, and close hauled, but nothing right on the nose. Nice to be back home and ready to plan another trip.
