we just bought a P-28 1987 with a 23 gal holding tank. we need advice on a typical people/day capacity of the the tank????

That's a huge holding tank for that size boat. Our 30 has a 12 or 14 gallon, I think. It's good for a few days before needing to be pumped.
Big is defined by often you want to be able to go between pumpouts. Up the coast we have few pumpout options so I have a 25 on my P-34. While cruising w/3 people we can go 2-3 days max. The bigger the better in my book. Not fond of carrying around a lot of pooh but also don't want to determine destinations by pumpouts
Our 323 had a 10 g tank. I converted the bow water tank to a holding tank. Pearson said it is a 30 g tank, Kracor says it is 40 g. Haven't cruised yet. 2 of us staying in the marina and using marina facilities some of the time b ring the tank to 3/4 full in 7-10 days. If anyone is interested in converting a tank I'll tell you what I did. klosteratcenturyteldotcom.
