Peggy Hall, I have pushed my luck far enough. It is time to trade out my aluminum holding tanks for poly. Do you have a recommended supplier? Thanks in advance. Peter Milne S/V Blue Heron

Replacing it?

So Alan, are you going to replace it? Or keep it out for the weight savings and have the crew use the old bucket and chuck it method? Just kidding! Yes, I also went Ronco when I replaced the tank in my H35.5. I went from the 13 gal original aluminum to a 25 gal poly tank that fit like a charm. A couple of small tricks to get it in, but very glad I did it. Ronco will place openings where you ask, with the sizes you need. Went with all fittings on top, dip tube for the outlet and a 1" fitting for the vent tube. I was running all new hoses, so replaced vent with 1" and a larger thru hull in the original location. I second Alan

Ronco is a great company to buy a tank from. They will work with you to get you exactly what you need. They give great advice, too. Good luck!

Do you recall which part number you found. At the moment is only see a B276(22gal) and B189(30gal) that looks like it would fit. Why did you go to a larger vent size? and top mounted fittings?

Bladder Tank

I had 2 bladder tanks, one for potable water and one for septic/holding. At the time my boat was totalled, we had the tanks for 6 years and they served us well with no problems. The water tank was 35 gals and replaced an 18? gal poly tank in the same area. The holding tank was i think 60 gals because VETUS didn have a 40 gal in stock at the time. Contrary to popular opinion (usually from people that never owned or ever been on a boat with a bladder holding tank), we never had an odor problem.
