Holding tank kit?

We would like to add a holding tank and pump to our 1980 Catalina 27. Are there kits available? Is it difficult to do? What sort of cost are we looking at? Thanks.

These installations run from simple, just a holding tank which is emptied via pump out through a deck mounted fitting to more complicated which in addition to the deck fitting also have an overboard discharge.If the bottom of the tank is below the waterline, a pump must be fitted to allow overboard discharge. If the bottom of the tank is above the waterline, gravity can carry the effluent overboard.If you can get hold of a West Marine master catalog, you'll find diagrams of several different installations as well as the parts and materials needed for each.

Check with "Ronco Tanks" they have one (20 gal) that is designed to fit under the v-berth in a cat 27. It has the in/out and vent attachment points already threaded and ready for the fittings. Through the use of a "Y" valve and some appropriate hoses, I configured ours for pumpout or overboard cleanout. Note, use the best quality hose you can get. The cheaper ones tend to permeat, giving that less than desireable odour.
