This one showed up yesterday at the house checking out the bird-feeder buffet. I think it's a Coopers Hawk. Taken with my phone so not a good pic.

It’s amazing the birds I’ve seen in my own neighborhood and also while driving. The most exciting bird in my yard was a family of red-cockaded woodpeckers. My friends at the wildlife department told me there was no way I had them in my yard. I told them the only way it was sometime else was if my field guide was wrong. I invited them to come over to see a VHS recording I had done. When he arrived he told me he didn’t need to see the tape. He had already found a nest hole. We ended up banding the babies. Way cool!

They’re way-cool birds. And they should be called sharp-taloned. (Actually all have sharp talons.)

Did you spell that right?

Yup. My book refers to them as Common Bushtit. The link below just call them Bushtit. A flock of ten to twenty will show up at our feeder, argue over eating pecking order, then fly off.
