Has anybody anchored out in Henlopen inside the breakwater? If so how was it?

It's in Delaware, Pete

I was curious too so I looked it up on Google Earth. Cape Henlopen is on the western shore at the lower end of Delaware Bay. Cape May, NJ is on the opposite shore. The Cape Henlopen breakwater is visible on Google Earth and shown in detail on NOAA chart 12216 - Cape Henlopen to Indian River Inlet;Breakwater Harbor. There's a ferry terminal and a dredged channel to the south, but it certainly looks like one could anchor out of the way up under the lee of the breakwater. Of course, that's just from looking at the chart. I have no idea what it would be like when the fishermen, crabbers and weekend warrior powerboaters are out in full force. Peter H23 "Raven"

Heard it was fine

I've not done so myself but ran into someone in Cape May last year who does so and recommended we try it some time. Sorry I can't remember any useful info for me to pass on to you. Looked in the cruising guides and couldn't find anything either. I can tell you to watch for commercial traffic crossing the mouth of Delaware Bay. Lot's of ship and ferry traffic on a regular basis. I'd also give the shoals off Cape May a wide berth. Mike

Do a map search

BP, I just did a map search of Lewes, Delaware and based on what I saw I would think you'd want to duck into the channel. Otherwise you'd be fairly well exposed. Good luck Mike
