It's great to just point people to the one thread where all the info is collected.
That assumes the new question is exactly the same. Often there are so many variables involved that the old thread info doesn't apply, and creates confusion. Age of the thread can make the info invalid. Like a thread that suggests using 3M 101 sealant, when it is no longer available. Or websites that are gone.

Or you have some asking a question where they ask.. should I do A or B ? When what they should do is C.

My biggest peeve is people so lazy they want to be spoonfed.
It is increasingly a problem in general.

Something like that isnt really viable with sailing. It's not a simple sport and if you own a keelboat you suddenly need to be an amateur engineer.
