I've got a hatch that is soo hard to open or close, my wife doesn't even attempt to do this back breaking chore. Has anyone else had this problem, if so how did you fix it. Thank you in advance for your help.

Sticky hatch

John; Are you sure the locking knob is loose? The track arm may be bent, the frame tweaked or the hinges need some WD-40.

Fixing a sticky hatch

If the slide is straight then clean it really good with a wax /cleaner---then put parafin (hard wax) along the slide and work it back and forth (till it is smooth). The elements won't break the wax down and it won't hurt clothing material if you should get it on you...

You can try WD40 but remember that's it's a solvent, not a lubricant. It can help to dissolve any gunk in there but if you want to truly lubricate, use a good teflon spray. LaDonna

Hatch

I lubricate mine with silicon spray. I want to note that WD-40 is a fair solven and a lousy lubricant. WD-40 is a silicon oil designed to displace water (WD water displacing) and it was the 40th compound tested hence WD-40. I know a lot of folks use it as a solvent and it doesn't smell to bad but there are better solvents out there. For lubrication use spray silicone lubricant, spray or wipe on teflon or a wax as Gary suggested. Save the WD-40 for keeping water off tools and electronics and out of your distributor cap.
