Ed,My boat has a West combiner. Probably named because it was sold at West Marine. The difference is, I think, that the ACR connects the battery banks as soon as it senses a charging voltage. The combiner connects the banks after the first bank reaches a float level. Either are simple to install.
Your West Marine combiner is most likely a Yandina. They are excellent combiners and very reliable. Yandina has excellent information and descriptions of operation on their site too.
