If you use this model just make sure you kep the screen clean on a regular basis. I had the same filter on my air conditioner and it's amazing how quickly the screen will build up sediment and reduce the water flow to unacceptable levels. Also note that it will only clog between the hours of 2:00 and 4:00 AM :)

More on Heat Exchangers

So I finally went and got my HX back from the radiator shop. It looks great and pressure tested fine. The Dex-Cool must go though!

Here are a few photos to illustrate why keeping the zincs fresh is imperative. It illustrates just how many dissimilar metals are in a common HX for many diesel engines.

Ok so how many dissimilar metals can they fit onto one heat exchanger? We have copper, brass, bronze, solder and of course stainless bolts to hold the end caps on. That is five different metals!! Change your zincs!!

I think that's at least six metals, since most solder is lead-based or tin-based, at least for non-potable water systems.
