Need a new headsail for our Catalina 34. Have lots of quotes - lots of info, prices (incl. tax) ranging from $2400 (FX and Cruising Direct) to $3400 UKHalsey and Hood. We are in Mystic, CT. Cruise a lot, no racing. Need a reef pt. for those wild days. Hate to spend the extra money for the local guys, but we haven't had any experience with the sails "from away." Suggestions? Recommendations from folks who have recently bought sails would be most appreciated. Kate

Talk to the folks at National Sails. I just bought a 135 from them. Price was right, delivery was reasonable. They're Rolly Tasker Sails made in Phuket, Thailand. I bought them based on others recommendations but, mostly price driven. They've yet to get on the boat -- the lake is still frozen. http://www.rollytasker.com/

Hi, Kate. You may want to take a look at the link on our C34 website. There are many of our C34 International Association members in your area with all sorts of experience. Also look around at www.c34.org. The general concensus seems to be somewhat of a "you get what you pay for" answer, after years of having this discussion. Lower price, little support from further away, higher (not necessarily) price more service and specificity. Catalina's own sails loft has been pretty good also.
