Ive got my eye on a 30’ cruising boat, the weird reality is that if I get a bigger boat, I won’t travel nearly as far. Traverse Bay from Saginaw Bay is like 4 hours on I-75, it’s a lot further on Lake Huron.
I think if I give in to the 12-foot-itis, the logical thing to do would be to stay in the protected waters of the bay for a year learning how to handle it before I challenge the big water.

Definetely a big jump. I do agree that moving up in size is the nature progression. I would like to do that at well at some point. The challenge for me is finding a slip. I've been on a list for 6 years and nothing. Trailerable is my only option. Be safe. Happy New Year!

i looked at Sutton’s bay and elk rapids and figured I’d never live long enough to make it to the top of the wait list. Tawas Bay is more promising, Im on the wait list at the state harbor, people havetold me that sometimes it only takes a year. I‘m pretty sure I have a slip at the yacht club - waiting for confirmation.

Bowers Harbor is a lovely spot, whether your down in deep, or on the lee of the island. We saw an amazing scuffle over a fish between two seagulls and a bald eagle there.
