Has anyone actually built a hard dodger for a Catalina30? Mine is an '83 and I want to use it to replace a sunbrella cover that is DOT fastened to the companionway and sliding hatch. Wanted to have a permanent transparent window forward to see thru, either Lexan or tempered glass. Also need to find a way to adjust the traveller from the cockpit. There's a good article on one homemade for an Alberg 35 in the 01JUN issue of CRUISING WORLD (I read religiously). But the traveller is in front of the companionway, not in front of the companionway, like the CAT30. The only problem I see is how to use sailties near the aft end of the boom for flaking the main. I now stand on the hatch cover.

sail ties are easy

I have a soft dodger and get around it easily when flaking the sail by simply pulling the boom to one side or the other with the traveler.
