Just had my Kanzaki KBW20 tranny rebuilt. Shift lever is facing towards the stern of the boat with the Edson cable running to the same mounting bracket on the SB stern of the engine to the clevis pin connecting the cable to the shift lever on the tranny!
Push the shifter control forward to engage FWD, the cable is pulled upward which pulls the tranny shift lever up into gear. However, that is Reverse on the transmission shift diagram on the side of the tranny. The prop shaft rotates counter clockwise. It has worked the opposite for the past 5 years!!
if you rotate the shifter lever 180 degrees the pull of pushing the shift control forward pull the shifter up into forward. But, the routes at a bad angle and binds if using the original cable mounting bracket. A web search has several recording the same issue with no solution as to how to resolve of explain!
Any thoughts from the community would be appreciated!
