H44 DS How do the 2 fuel tank work ?

Hello,
On my 2003 Hunter 44 DS I have two fuel tanks: one on Port Side (filler in the middle of the deck) and one on Starboard (filler Aft). Recently I filled the Starbord one, with 90 liter and noticed the port side was full (did not accept fuel). 10 days later while filling it was the contrary : Starboard one was full and had to put 200 l on the port side. I do not record having changed any valve or so.
Questions:
Are there any valve system (or pump) to select which tank to use ?
Where are these valve or pump switch located ?
What are the capacity of each tank ?

Interesting that you have two fuel tanks............link to the manual shows one 193 liter fuel tank (page 37) and one in the diagram without valves (page 61). Must have been a custom modification by the factory or aftermarket.

The tank you are pumping fuel into on the port side is where my holding tank pumpout fitting resides. Are you pumping fuel into the waste holding tank?

Hopefully not, The Port filler labelled "Diesel " is in front of the "Waste" one

Do you have one or two diesel fill locations? Is the boat new to you and did the surveyor provide any information on the two tanks ans would be expected on a survey?

My 2005 44 has port and starboard fills for the two freshwater tanks. These fills are in the same spot on either side. If your "diesel" fill on the port side is located opposite the starboard freshwater fill you have one of two scenarios.

1. Prior owner made modifications to add additional fuel capacity and/or easier fuel fill access.
2. Prior owner lost the freshwater fill cap and replaced it with one marked "diesel".

One way to find out for sure is to switch off your starboard freshwater tank and run the water in your port freshwater tank.

Indeed the water tank was replaced with an extra diesel one once a desalinator was installed

The original diesel tank is 51 gal and it appears that there were (2) tanks for fresh water with a capacity of 125 gal, assuming the port side fresh water tank was converted to a diesel tank you would have an additional 62 gal of diesel for a total of 113 gallons. I would hope that the person that converted the freshwater tank would have replaced the tank with a tank suitable for fuel

Nice math question...............Ditto DayDreamer41 got the answer justa minute before I was going to post it. Suggest consulting the manual I provided a link to above for capacities and water/fuel diagrams.

Tank you all ! My math question was due to the fact that it was not clear in the user manual if the water tank capacity was per tank or for both. Apparently it is fot both.
