A portion of the water ballast valve gasket has come unglued, and the gasket is curling over on itself. I'd like to remove the valve completely from the boat to re-attach the gasket. Does anyone know if there is enough clearance to do so while the boat is on the stock MagicTilt trailer? Thank you in advance for your help!

Thanks George

I know it has a long bolt leading up to the lower cabin step. The Owner's Manual does not provide the length of the bolt. Before I unscrew it completely and risk not being able to get the end back up through the tank to the vent hole site, I thought I'd see first if it was even possible to do so.

If the boat is on the trailer, look at the position while sitting on the trailer. IF you drawn a straight line down thru the keel tray which is wood covered by carpet, then you can do this while on the trailer. 1. First, chock the wheels if the trailer is on an incline. 2. Crank up the centerboard off the keel tray. 3. Remove the bolts holding the boards. 4. You might have to cut the carpet back where the lag bolts are in order to remove them. 5. Then either dig a hole then or before to allow the rascal to drop all the way out. 6. Use glues like gorilla glue, carpet glues and so forth. I am not sure if Hunter used 5200 for that . Make sure the glue will not deteroiate if immersed in water. Good luck and be careful.

Ballast Valve

I guess Dave says the valve shaft is too long. If that's the case I think it would be easier to slot the replacement gasket or drop the valve with the boat in the water. I'm under my boat w/scuba a couple of times a season cleaning the hull, that's when I'd do it.
