I strongly urge you if you must insist installing a midship cleat like that, you remove it and add a round bar underneath with holes drilled in it for the screws to distribute weight for pulling. As a dealer, I repaired boats with midship cleats attached like that did not distribute the load out which basically either ripped out or tore the hull to deck join out and that was not an easy repair not to mention the coast.
I have always recommended a midship cleat on the dock. Why. You can add a line or dock line to the bow and pull back which will cause the stern to go out and vice versa for the bow with a line tied to the stern either of which can be secured to a dock mid cleat.
