If you are well healed and want to put down deep roots, investigate property along either Palmetto Creek or Soldier Creek in Alabama. Both offer protected deep water, beautiful property, sophisticated neighbors. Same for Roberts Bayou. Water in that area is like a horizontal H, with the top bar being Arnica Bay and the ICW to the west and the bottom of Perdido Bay to the east. The bottom bar is Bayou St. John leading to Perdido Pass to the Gulf to the west and the ICW again (jogs down the vertical crossbar) to the east. At the top of the crossbar is Ross Point. Roberts Bayou is inland from the east/west shore of the point; the two creeks are on the roughly east-west shore of Perdido Bay close on the east side of Ross Point.

All Mississippi Gulf Coast Marinas have Mandatory Evacuations for Hurricanes.

Choose Wisely

Jim...
I was in a duce-and-a-quarter that drove from the Ocean Springs/Biloxi Bridge to the lighthouse the day after Camille hit. There wasn't a toothpick between the water and the embankment north of the highway. That's not a hurricane-safe coast. Even the Biloxi Back Bay is subject to full storm surge.
