I have a 1989 C30 that I wired a Garmin pedistal guard mounted GPS as follows ...drill hole in stainless pedistal guard tubing, undo pedistal guard from cockpit deck, feed wire through tubing, run wire pack to interior stern, across interior stern (end of aft berth) then along starboard side beneath trim at hull to deck joint to electrical panel. Rebed pedistal guard with sycaflex and "bobs your uncle".Hi,
Need advise how to wire GPS unit mounted on Pedestal.
Thanks.
Run the wires back to the electrical panel at the nav station. That makes access to the fuses more accessible, and you can shut all of the electronics at one place. The only electrical panel that I am aware of near the lazarette is for the engine and it may be electrically noisy.I just purchased a Garmin that I am going to pedestal mount. Do you recommend wiring to the electrical panel in the lazarette or direct to the battery? Thanks for the information.
