One other thing. Why would anyone use garlic if it keeps vampires away? That syrupy East European voice and smokin' hot look is what every sailor worth his rum is hoping for aren't they? o_O

Good point. You'll never regret letting the vampires on your ship if you don't live that long.

I don't think vampires were mentioned in the explanation I found. It was more geared to those evil people that try to bring bananas aboard!!!
Bad juju is always twice as strong as good juju. Just like anything in life, bad is easier than good. Spending money is easy easier than earning money. If you plant things and nurture them and they die, they are plants. If you kill it and it keeps coming back, it is a weed. That is why one must have many good charms to try and balance out the bad.

I wonder if the evil banana smugglers were actually vampires. If not it would work as a side effect. Sorry, couldn't resist. Jeez, never thought I was superstitious.
