Late last Fall I decided to switch the house bank over to 4 Golf Car batteries after having to use the back up engine battery a couple of times last season. I checked out the forum here and headed off to our local Sam's Club. Great, Interstate GC batteries at $78 ea. 225 AH and they have lots in stock, while they are over $ 140 at Interstate themselves. Trojans run $ 160- 170. I decide that I'll wait until spring, rather than storing the batteries all winter...... big mistake. Sam's Club just announced they are closing all the Canadian stores. I headed down to find out they don't have any GC batteries and will not be getting any more in.

So now I'm back researching battery brands etc. So far, besides the Trojan's, Ive found Deka, Crown Battery, U.S Battery, Surrete ( twice the price as Trojan's) and Power Battery.
What should I be looking for in terms of difference between batteries. I know thickness of the plates is one thing, anything else I should be considering.
What is the difference between vented and sealed batteries.
Thanks, I think I'll have another scotch to take the pain away.:cry:
