Glow Plug

I replaced a freeze plug in my diesel engine and everything seemed to work well, except when I flip the glow plug switch I no longer get the ticking sound that lets me know when it is warm. It still works, I just keep the switch on for about twenty seconds. Does anyone know what I might have forgotten to do? Everything seems to be hooked up and running great. Thank you, John Mesa

Ticking

I say this every time: I'm no engine expert (quite the opposite, actually!). I was under the impression that the ticking you hear while warming up the glow plug is actually the fuel filter clicking. Is this not accurate? LaDonna

Ticking

LaDonna is very close, on my boat there is a ticking that is the fuel pump pumping fuel to the engine. If you open the bypass valve, the ticking will speed up, close it up and it should slow down the ticking. Why it stopped when you replaced a water plug is beside me. As long as the engine is running, you should hear the pump although different pumps make different noises. I can not think of any thing else that would cause the ticking noise.
