... I saw a picture on here where someone made a permanent table and hinged it and it looked reasonable, certainly user friendly, but a little small for me.
I may try to copy the same idea but I need to come up with a plan for making it bigger.

Where to put a table in an S or D can have its problems. If it is attached to the sink then it limits getting under the sink and can be in the way of the person on that side going to the head or V-berth. Likewise with about any other fixed location. Either one person or the other can't use the table or it is in their way.
Our table is easily moved to the location where it is needed or to move it out of the way and it stores folded up about any place.
Here it is....
... on the sink and handy to someone preparing a meal from that side. Since the counter top is about the same height off the floor as one of the companionway steps it can go back there...
and the person on the port side can use it or it can be centered ...
...on the step and slid forward where it is easy for either person to use.... or ....
...slid back on the step to open the cabin center up some.
It is light and easy to use and I'm sure some of you are thinking that it isn't stable. Yes you might be able to knock it over if you tried real hard, but we have used it on the water for over 100 days, morning and night and that has never happened.
You don't have to make one exactly the same dimensions as I have and it is easy and quick to make. Just throw one together and see if it works for you and if it does then finish it off. I wouldn't be temped to put two legs on it. A three point stance like it has is plenty stable and the center leg is more out of the way.
We love it and wouldn't change a thing on it. More here....
