Galley Stoves

Morning,
We have a force 10, 3 burner stove, which takes a long time to do anything in the oven. Nozzle is clean. Plate is in place and not bent. Gas pressure is slightly under recommended, 28mb as apposed to 30mb, due to UK regulator. After 30 mins it is at 205 C, and after 51 mins it max's out at 230 C.
Force 10 say this is within parameters, but it is still very slow. Any recommendations???
Also, there appears to be a lot of heat escaping out of the back of the oven. Again I was told this is venting. Anyone used fire proof insulation to try reduce the heat loss, whilst still maintaining the air flow?

Got to try keep my baker happy. A well fed crew is a happy crew.

At +200 deg. C I can imagine there is a lot of heat escaping the oven. It isn't a kiln you know? What could possibly need that kind of heat? That is full burn, full flow; is your regulator freezing up?

200 degrees Celsius is about 400 degrees Fahrenheit. I would say that is within specs. Yes, what are you trying to burn?

Well, as a consumer of galley slave products produce in just such an oven I can attest that it does not take any longer than in my 8000+watt electric oven at the house, and sure smells good when bread or cookies are baking.
Perhaps the galley slave needs retraining? Galley slave training is fun for both the Captain and slave BTW.
Clearly 400 deg F is sufficient to "cook" just about anything and probably burn it too!
I use the "warm up" time to chase the galley slave around the boat only to get "stood down" by the Admiral when the oven comes up to temp. The galley slave and Admiral have a good working relationship......
On a more serious note; Get an oven thermometer to confirm the temp. The knob on the oven is hardly ever correct BTW.

Hi all,
Force 10 told me to test getting it up to 250 C!!! Pizza sounds good. We have recently been gifted a solar oven too as well as carrying a COBB bbq, however when asked by the Boss to get her stove sorted, I'm not going to argue. She makes very good bread.

We used an oven thermometer with 5% inaccuracy, so pretty happy with accuracy.
I have also spoken to someone today regarding regulators, they will be getting checked again.
