Furling Headsail issues...

I do love our new C-310 and the convenience of the roller furled Main, however, I wondered how to trim with limited controls. Specifically, I've noticed excessive lufting when sailing even off at 45 degrees. I have trimed the sheet, let out the topping lift, adjusted the traveler etc. I do have a NON-ADJUSTABLE hard vang, and I am wondering if this is, ultimately, the problem. Yes, we have covered the vang issue here before...Catalina decided to move to a non-adjustable hard vang on the 2005 model 310's. Anyone want to sound off on this issue?

Proper Trim on roller furling mains was discussed in the Sail Trim forum. Suggest you ask you question there if you can't find what you need doing a search. The Sail Trim Forum is located in the Expert Forum on the pull down menu.

My 2005 C-310 is fine...

Tim, Even though the vang is solid it can be adjusted. There are two allen set screws you can loosen these and lower the aft end of the boom for a tighter main. Mine is barely luffing at all on most all points of sail. Make sure your halyard is tight enough and you have proper outhaul for the point of sail and adjust down your ridgid vang by turning it like a big screw and you should be fine... -Rodd C.
