I am evaluating roller furlings for my 1976 Cataline 27. A model 104-10 Furlex has been presented as a possible choice. Does anyone have any feedback on this furling (ease of use, installation, etc). Also, I would appreciate comments on other brands of furlings and how they perform. Thanks for the help.....DAVE

and look at other boats. See what furlers are popular in your area. Compare features and pricing for Furlex, Harken, Pro-Furl, and Schaefer. They all make good furlers. Base model Furlex units have no headstay adjustment, adjustable length is an $$$ option. I think you will find that the Furlex is more expensive than a Harken after you add the adjustable drum. As far as installation and ease of use ... They all work about the same. You can install a Furlex, Pro-Furl, or Schaefer yourself. You will need a rigger to put the stud on the Harken (or use a Sta-Lok stud). As far as after installation maintenance and repair. The Furlex is a bugger to work on, the Schaefer requires special rivets that may be hard to come by. The Harken and Pro-Furl units can be serviced and need little/no maintenance.
