Furler Q’s

Ok, the furler is back in one piece, which is great, now what is not so great apparently are my measuring skills, I am 1 ½” a bit short.
My backstay adjuster handles it very well.
But my problem is that the top of the furler needed that space to accommodate the angled braces where the pin secures the furler to the mast head.
Now TEMPORARILY I installed a shackle so we could raise the mast, I will NOT use it for sailing.
What I am looking for is the correct way to solve my issue so we can go sailing.
I will try to find time to go to my local chandlery this week, but it will be tough to find the time.
So I am looking for recommendations on what to look for.

thank you in advance

Pictures are needed. How is the forestay attached? Which furler do you have?
My rig uses a tang that can be adjusted by size desired. Some systems use a turn buckle. A shackle is not what you need. A tang with pins are used.
Something similar.

This is the only picture I have, it was taken before I undertook the whole furler task this spring,
Basically a thick pin goes through the masthead’s fitting and through the eye on the top of the forestay.
It is a furlex type B mark11.
I simply need to add room from the pin to the black top cap of the furler.

Ok.
what if you were able to ass the length to the base?

part B32 is the “Toggle Fork Fork”.
If is was 2” longer that would lengthen the forestay by 2”. It only connects the forestay to the boat does not affect the furler length. If the furler is long enough for your sail and the upper swivel is at the proper position/angle to the mast, then is seems like the easiest and best part to extend to get the length of forestay you want.

The issue is that the black end cap on top is preventing the forestay from attaching itself to the mast head, that is why I NEED to add something to the top part

Ok, Quick update,
Did have time to go look for parts before work today, did find a rigging shackle (not sure of the exact term for this one) it has holes to pass the original pin on top and an extra pin to hold the furler, it is about 1.5” long, exactly the size I need, I was looking for a fork to eye shackle, but they did not have any in stock, so either wait a week or more or get the expensive one, needless to say it is waiting to be installed on the boat.
I booked the masting crane for Saturday morning, then we should be good to install the sails and go have fun

All is resolved, we got a nice ($$$$$) rigging shackle to intall between the masthead and furler, everything is as it should now

The trouble is the correct equipment on a boat is always expensive. It also works correctly for a good length of time.

If you purchased a new Furlex, the lubricant is in the kit as is a brand new forestay which assures quality control over all the components of the system. That way you are not putting a new furler on an old forestay. Sounds like you bought a forestay separately and maybe have not bought the Furlex yet? Anyway, you can purchase from Selden the lubricant designed for the job.
