Heard a comic talking about his home life.

"We were poor while I was growing up. We couldn't even afford Ice cream. Of course, we did not know that.

After dinner, when we were playing, Mom would call for dessert.

Then she'd put a spoonful of sugar in a bowl and pour in some milk.

We would not hear her call and eventually wander into the kitchen.

Mom, I thought we were having Ice cream.

We were. Yours melted." :biggrin:

When we would visit my aunt in Wisconsin (where she and my Uncle lived on a farm, in a 2-room log cabin), my mom and aunt would tell my cousins and siblings that we were getting a “treat” and to each get one mitten. Then they would go out and break icicles off the room of the cabin eave, bring them in and hand us each an icicle:facepalm:

It wasn’t funny then, and it isn’t funny now :cool:

In northern New England, you pour a few drops of maple syrup on a snowball and it's called, "sugar on snow," as if that's a special treat. They even make them to sell. The funny part is, people pay.
