Use Brass or Bronze

Our technical source here on the great lakes says that you'd have a very hard time finding that fitting in S/S or AL. Nothing showed up in boat hardware catologs. To make sure that electrolysis doesn't develop between the aluminum and the second metal simply use teflon tape or Lock-Tite on the treads to separate them. Make sure you inspect the joint every so often to make sure there's no corrosive action developing. It might be necessary to make the fitting up from two pieces, an elbow and a hose barb. Even though this is the air vent make sure the connections are gas tight. As you top off the fuel when filling, the air venting hose fills with gas. Folks here thought while your surveyor had your safety in mind he was specifying an unrealisic approach. Capt. PH

Fittings

If all else fails try the swagelok web site at <www.swagelok.com>. Swagelock is a major manufacturer of plumbing components for the nuclear industry and they have fittings you can only guess at. They specialize in ss but they also make things in brass and monel. Go to the web site and use it to get the name of your local distributor. They will have what you need.
